MINDFULNESS MONDAY

This week we are going to shift the focus back onto the school age kids in our lives. This activity can be used as adults in a stressful situation, or before a big presentation or test as well.

If your child gets tense or stressed during schoolwork or testing, this exercise could help to get centered before beginning these activities.

A suggestion for the week: Practice this with your child.

· Sit in a comfortable position with your hands in your lap or on the desk.

· Notice the sounds you hear and anchor yourself in the present moment.

· Focus on your breathing, feel your chest rise as you inhale and fall as you exhale.

· Breathe naturally and concentrate on the next 5 breaths, noticing how your body feels.

· If you feel stressed or anxious take a deep breath in and as you breath out imagine that you are releasing the stress and anxiety with the breath.

· As you take your next breath in picture yourself doing all of your homework or taking the test with ease.

This exercise can also be repeated during homework or tests of your child gets stuck on a problem or feels anxious.

Have a great week!
