MINDFULNESS MONDAY

In this time of year, life is extremely busy with deadlines, finishing things before the end of the year, preparation for the upcoming holidays, finishing winter prep (depending on the area you live in), etcetera, etcetera. Our activity this week is to do nothing- let me explain below.

A suggestion for the week: Do nothing meditation

· Set a timer for at least 10 minutes. There is no need to get into a certain position unless you prefer that structure.

· Don’t position your attention in any particular way

· Let whatever happens happen

· Over time if you note yourself doing something intentionally- stop doing it.

· Some examples of what to stop doing: thinking, trying to focus on something specific, trying to keep track of what is going on, trying to meditate.

· Just sit (or lay) and do nothing.

· When the timer goes off, notice if your mind is clearer, you feel less stressed, or what other changes you note in yourself.

This technique may be very difficult for you, especially if you note having ‘monkey mind’ every time you try to be quiet. If that is the case, then try a more structured meditation instead.

Have a great week!
