MINDFULNESS MONDAY

Hello, this week we are going to perform a meditation that involves problem solving.

Having an effective approach for problem solving is an essential tool that can be used in many aspects of your life. Often there are 2 barriers that hinder our ability with problem solving: 1) defining the problem too broadly and 2) thinking that there are no possible solutions. Today’s meditation will help us with these barriers and improve our ability with effective problem solving.

A suggestion for the week: Problem Solving Activity

· Come to a comfortable position with minimal distractions. You may want to have a pen and paper nearby to make note of your thoughts.

· Coose a problem in your life that you would like to address.

· Specifically define the problem by focusing on the facts and avoiding interpretations based on your feelings.

· While focusing on this new definition of the problem, begin brainstorming possible solutions. Get creative here, write down as many as possible, even if they don’t seem too plausible. This process will activate your creative thinking which could reveal previously unseen solutions. This can also reveal to you that there are more possible solutions than you originally thought- removing the barrier of no solutions.

· Next rank all of the possible solutions that you came up with in order of practicality and effectiveness.

· Look at your top 3 and make a potential plan to implement each one. Which in your opinion has the best likelihood of solving your problem?

· Enact your solution when an opportunity presents itself. If it does not work, then move down your list until you find the best solution for your problem.

Good luck with finding a solution to your problem and being able to move forward and grow better!
